In the exhibition  S U M M E R   F R A G M E N T S, fragments of summer are preserved with the help of cold temperatures. Three works of art are presented in a refrigerated container at temperatures below zero degrees Celsius.

With the help of cold temperatures, what would normally go unnoticed becomes visible: the fragile, fleeting relationship between living organisms and their environment. Each artwork preserves a small part of the warm season and invites visitors to rediscover these fleeting impressions amid the icy cold.

Wild herbs, colorful flowers, and busy insects, as well as a chirping songbird, remind us of moments that are taken for granted in summer but seem almost unreal in winter. Immerse yourself in a world where summer exists only as a memory, but where an artificial climate gives it an almost magical intensity.

In Invisible Garden (2025) Jennifer Oellerich exposes photo prints of wild herbs and summer flowers to freezing temperatures. The image is overlaid with ice flowers, merging two contrasting seasons — a phenomenon we are seeing more and more often in light of climate change.

Instead of living with animals in natural harmony, we keep them in containers specially designed by us according to our own preferences, needs and desires. In Like a bird (2021) Ronald Anzenberger explores the Idea of dealing with animals differently.

For the coming winter, Ronald Anzenberger has frozen a piece of summer (2025) meadow in a block of clear ice. This allows visitors to discover various plants and animals that are otherwise only found in the warm summer season.
